American Dumpster will play that same evening at the Coffee Pot in Roanoke

Afromotive will play on Dec. 2 also, they will play at the Winter Sun in Floyd at around 9
Billy will be playing that night too, at Cafe Sol in the early evening, for my art reception

Billy played sax with them some at Fandango, that was a big treat for me. I hope very much to get to see this again tonight.

whether or not you make it to the Ray's show please make these visitors feel welcome in our community if your paths happen to cross

American Dumpster in Floyd next Tuesday

hi everyone

I have confirmation that the American Dumpster band will play at Ray's in Floyd next week. This will be on Tuesday and details can be obtained at 745-2501.

If I can I will post some photos of this but they are buried among a zillion other photos.

also Celtic Night at the Cellar is tomorrow...it was extremely awesome to be at the first one

these will be every third Thursday. The Jugbusters play on Thursday when it isn't Celtic night.

There is an Irish night in Floyd at Oddfells, I need to check on when this is but I believe that it is the first Friday

two very excellent bands - Carbon Culture and the American Dumpster Band - have websites which are inaccessible to me most of the time since I usually do my work during the very early hours of the day and sudden audio features are a huge nuisance since they wake up the house.

a new mountain-friendly gesture is being envisioned by the ideapark.org community to make the very best music easy to hear when you are in your home town.

to explore optimization options please visit audiopark.org or a neighboring site

the League of Women Voters thing is tonight at Town Council Chambers in Blacksburg. this is a presentation related to verified voting. refreshments will be served, that is one thing I forgot to mention

I need to go now, have a great day. below are some quick tips on using NVU, an open source tool for web authoring. this is a great tool to use if you want to make a little portal on the ideapark.org intranet.

November 15 meeting in Blacksburg will focus on verified voting

On November 15, 2006 at 7:30 pm, there will be a public meeting in Blacksburg, Virginia to raise awareness about voter rights in the electronic age.

This presentation is being hosted by the Montgomery County League of Women Voters, and it is entitled Electronic Voting: Democracy in Peril?

The evening's event will include presentations by two speakers, David Evans and Ann Sterling, both of whom have a wide range of experience related to electronic voting.

David Evans is a professor of computer science at UVA and a citizen member of a joint committee on electronic voting of the Virginia State Legislature. Anne Sterling is the Virginia State Legislative Coordinator for the League of Women Voters.

This presentation will focus on a recent Princeton University study which points to numerous vulnerabilities in the Diebold electronic voting system. A simulated election fraud event will be shown on video to illustrate the ease with which the Diebold electronic voting unit can be hacked.

This meeting will begin at 7:30 pm in the Blacksburg Town Council Chambers in the Blacksburg Municipal Building at 300 South Main Street in Blacksburg.

This is a free event, and all are welcome. For more information, please contact Mary Houska at 540.552.2717.

Studio Tour 10 and the Mountain Music Benefit

hi everyone

just a quick note to remind you about the Studio 10 Tour, which will be happening in Radford again today

Carter Holliday and Sarah McCarthy are two of the participating artists in this, it should be very good.

if you miss seeing Sarah's work today in Radford remember that she keeps a studio in Floyd and she also sells work out of the Bell Gallery.

I do not know whether the Mountain Music benefit has sold out yet but this is going to be a really nice event I think, so try to make it over to the Lyric in Blacksburg this afternoon if you are able. Snake Hollow String Band will play along with two other bands, and it all will benefit a great cause called Community Opportunities.

I am not sure about this but I believe that A'Court B. has some work up at Altared Earth in Floyd. He also will have some work up in the new Traces installation, which is being put up now at the Sweetwater Market in Floyd.

Friends & family of Sweetwater Market and Blue Mountain are encouraged to stay tuned to the news loop for more info on a Winter Giving Season celebration which will include an art & music party sometime in early December.

December 9 is looking like a good day for this event, but the date has not been decided yet. A 2 hour multicultural art & music reception is envisioned, followed by an employee party to thank and acknowledge Sweetwater & Blue Mountain staff.

Bye, have a blessed day. Thanks for reading.
