Jack Spadaro to speak in Boone on October 26

BOONE—Mining engineer and mine safety activist Jack Spadaro will present “Mountain Top Removal and the Destruction of Appalachia” Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. in Room 114 Carol Grotnes Belk Library and Information Commons at Appalachian State University.

His talk is sponsored by the university’s Center for Appalachian Studies, Office of Academic Affairs, College of Arts and Sciences, Sustainable Development Program and Appalachian Voices, a newspaper that focuses on environmental issues in the central and southern Appalachian Mountains.
