Our mission:
To create a community free of domestic and sexual violence.

Our guiding principles:
Safety, Dignity and Respect, Empowerment, Free Services and Community Collaboration

Our organization:
For more than 25 years, we’ve been providing hope and help to those who need it in the New River Valley. We are a non-profit, human service agency with the purpose of providing programs and services to adult and child victims of domestic and sexual violence. Our center, the oldest in Virginia, has been and will continue to be the cornerstone of courage and inspiration for thousands of people in our community.

While the overwhelming majority of victims of domestic and sexual violence are women and their abusers are likely men, men can also be victims of domestic and sexual violence. Domestic and sexual violence also occurs in lesbian and gay relationships.

The Women’s Resource Center is committed to serving all victims of domestic and sexual violence, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, national origin, age, religion, disability, or veteran status.
